Take the 1000 Mile Running Challenge!
Making the Miles is a physical and virtual accountability community that challenges you to work towards running or walking 1000 miles in a year!
You will be admitted into the private Garmin group where you can see the leaderboard and compete with people around you, or just use it to motivate yourself to keep climbing!
Earn some awesome running essentials along the way as you reach milestones (prizes are awarded at 250 miles, 500 miles, 750 miles, and 1,000 miles). You'll also get a starting line prize to get you going, just for signing up!
Make it to 1,000 miles, and receive a super-massive (like, the-size-of-your-face massive!), exclusive Fleet Feet belt buckle!

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- You can log miles from anywhere!
- All miles run or walked from calendar year 1/1/26-12/31/2026 are valid.
- You do not need a Garmin in order to participate. Miles can be entered into the Garmin Group manually.
- Prizes are valued at $150!
- Prizes need to be picked up at Fleet Feet Des Moines and can be picked up after the mile marker has been reached.
