Columbus, GA celebrates America's 250th Birthday with Freedom 250 5K

America only turns 250 once. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, runners and walkers from across the Chattahoochee Valley will gather for the Freedom 250 5K, a special event celebrating our nation's semiquincentennial through fitness, community, and patriotic spirit. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. in Uptown Columbus near the intersection of Broadway and 11th Street and takes participants through downtown Columbus and along the beautiful Riverwalk before finishing back in Uptown.

Whether you're chasing a personal best, running with friends and family, or simply looking for a fun way to celebrate America's birthday, the Freedom 250 5K welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, masters competitors, military participants, and age-group winners from youth divisions through ages 70 and above.

Participants can enjoy post-race snacks and refreshments while celebrating their accomplishments with fellow runners and walkers.

Participants who register before June 19 at noon are guaranteed an event T-shirt, making this race a memorable keepsake from a historic year. Packet pickup will take place at Big Dog Fleet Feet on Friday, June 26, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with additional pickup available on race morning before the start.
