Libertyville boasts a charming, historic character that dates back to its settlement in the 1830s along the Des Plaines River. Known for its vibrant and award-winning MainStreet district, the village features a beautifully preserved downtown filled with turn-of-the-century architecture and boutique storefronts. The community’s heritage is anchored by the Ansel B. Cook Home, a Victorian-era landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which serves as a centerpiece for the town's local history and cultural gatherings.
Fleet Feet Libertyville opened in Spring 2026, keeping the tradition of Run Specialty on Milwaukee Avenue alive and well in the Libertyville running community. Owned and operated locally by Dave and Lisa Zimmer, Fleet Feet set out on a mission to spread the mission of fitness and the power of running in the northern suburbs.
Parking/Public Transit
There is street parking available throughout downtown Libertyville, which is generally free but limited to two or three hours depending on the specific block (typically Monday–Saturday, 8 am – 6 pm). Always check the posted signs for the most current time limits.
There are also several convenient public parking lots and structures nearby. The Newberry Parking Lot is located just west of the building, and the Church Street Parking Garage offers multi-level parking within a short walking distance. These municipal lots are free to the public, though they may also be subject to four-hour limits during peak daytime hours to ensure turnover for local shoppers.
Fleet Feet Libertyville is situated directly across from the Libertyville station on the Metra North Central Service (NCS) line, providing a direct connection to Chicago's Union Station and the surrounding northern suburbs.
