The Fleet Feet Bloomington 10K & Half Marathon Training Program is designed to prepare runners for their first ever 10K or Half Marathon or help seasoned runners meet a new performance goal. Both programs will have options for participants new to these distances as well as more advanced runners.
We believe it is important to train with a goal in mind, usually (but not always) that goal is a race. This program is structured for half marathon participants to complete the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon in Springfield on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Our 10K participants will graduate at the Run For Hope in Bloomington on Sunday, March 26, 2023. However - your goal might just be to run for fun with great people or you may have another event in mind and that works, too.
There will be an optional informational session on Tuesday, January 3 at 5:30 pm at the store. Come learn more details about the programs to determine if they are right for you.
The first workout for the Half marathon group will be Tuesday, January 10 at 5:30 pm at Fleet Feet.
The first workout for the 10K group will be Saturday, January 28 at 8:00 am
Please note, the 10K group is an 8-week program, while the half marathon is a 12-week program.
When: Weekly group training runs will be at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays and 8:00 am on Saturdays.
Where: The group will meet at Fleet Feet Bloomington, Tipton Park, Rosa Parks, Jersey Hill, White Oak and other places around town. Participants will receive a program calendar that highlights where the group will meet each week as well as weekly email reminders.

- Program costs do not include race registration fees, although participants will receive a race discount for the Run For Hope
Additional Info: Participants should have completed at least one recent 5K and be able to comfortably run two miles at the start of this program. This program focuses more on continuous runnning rather than run/walk intervals, although participants are always encouraged to take walk breaks as needed. Participants who have taken a longer break from running may want to consider our 5K Training Program.
