FFASR 1.1 - Under Armour Charged Bandit

Welcome to the first edition of Fleet Feet Atlanta's Shoe Reviews (FFASR).  Check for frequent updates on new shoes and products in our store!  Below, I'll give a little info on my experience with the shoe and Nate from Under Armour will give a brief overview of the technical aspects.

My Personal Take:

While Under Amour has been a major player in the sporting goods industry over the past two decades, the company is still relatively young in the world of run specialty footwear.  Like many who are unfamiliar with Under Amour’s running shoes, I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first tried them out.  However, my reservations were quickly put to rest after trying on the new Charged Bandit.

First and foremost, this shoe is extremely comfortable.  As Nate states in the video, this shoe has one of the best “out of box” feels that I have experienced in a long time.  I believe a large part of that can be attributed to the seamless ArmourVent mesh upper. It gives the shoe a very soft, slipper-like feel.  Another feature that I love about this shoe is the anatomical shape of the foot bed.  It seems as if the shoe molds right to my foot, which makes for a very natural fit.

After walking around and running in the Bandit, my feelings about the shoe did not change a bit.  The Charged Cushioning in the midsole gives the shoe a plush feel on impact, but is still responsive off the ground.  Lastly, the Bandit does provide a fair amount of stability for individuals who over pronate, but it is not enough to make the shoe feel uncomfortable to neutral runners.  I have been running in neutral shoes for the past ten years, and I really like the more stable feel that the Bandit offers.  This is definitely a shoe that I would love to log some more miles in.
