Fleet Feet Aptos Big Run 5k, Half/Full Marathon, Trail & Fall 5k Training

Tina Collins
How many years have you been running: I have been running for over 20 years. I started with road running and found my love for trail running years later. I have run every distance from 5k to marathon and became an ultrarunner in 2023. My favorite distance is the half marathon distance, but I love the challenges I faced running my first and second 50k races this year. The ultra distance has taught me that I am capable of more than I thought I ever could be
Certification: RRCA Level One Certified Coach since 2020
Coaching Philosophy: Running is for everyone regardless of age, shape, size or ability and anyone can reach whatever goal they set if they work hard and stay consistent. Believing in yourself as a runner and an individual is half the battle.+
What is your favorite thing about coaching: My favorite thing about coaching is the opportunity to help other runners find the joy running brings and to help them reach their goals and run pain free/injury free.
What are you most excited about for the Run For Pie 5k: For the Run For Pie 5k, I am most excited for the sense of community it brings on a holiday when there may be some who may feel alone. I am excited for the opportunity to help promote and celebrate movement and a healthier lifestyle on a day that historically promotes and celebrates eating excessively and spending most of the day on the couch. A Thanksgiving 5k is a great opportunity to break unhealthy traditions and start new, healthier ones. From Walkers, to beginning runners, to those more experienced, this race is a fun way to get moving, spend time with community, and reach your running goals, whatever they may be.
What is your favorite race to run: My favorite race to date has been the Bryce Canyon 50k. Along with the amazing and beautiful scenery on the trails, it was the most challenging and technical terrain I have ever been on.
What is your favorite shoe to run in: I only run in Hokas.I run in Gaviottas for road and Stinson ATR for trail. Hokas are an excellent shoe for correcting many foot issues, relieving pain while running/walking, and preventing injury.
