The new Nike Pegasus has received some updates that improve on an already great everyday trainer. The midsole and outsole of the Pegasus 38 remains the same as version 37: a springy React foam midsole with a Zoom air unit in the forefoot for some extra “pop” at toe-off. The new upper is where the Pegasus 38 really shines. There is more volume or space in the toe box for a bit more comfort. The tongue has gotten a thorough makeover. It is now very plush: there is not a chance that you will feel any laces digging into the top of your foot. The heel counter is more “normal” in this edition and there is more padding around the ankle collar. What does this all amount to? Less heel slipping than the previous version and a better fit overall. Word on the street is that Nike went back to a last more similar to the Pegasus 36 for the latest version. It’s all good. The Nike Pegasus remains a highly versatile everyday trainer for just about any distance or experience level.
