The updated Brooks Transcend is a plush-cushioned stability shoe for high mileage runners that need understated, less aggressive support. This shoe avoids a firm medial posting in favor of guiderail technology that keep your feet in a neutral position. One suspects that the inspiration for Brooks' approach was bowling bumpers and it works. The midsole consists of DNA Loft — EVA foam injected with air. Because the midsole is a bit heel heavy, the Transcend works very well for heel strikers. Mid foot runners should give it a try, however, because the guiderails contribute to efficient ground contact. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the latest Transcend update is the seamless engineered mesh that manages to be supportive, flexible, and light. If you need some extra stability, but have been wary of a hard, aggressive medial posting, give the Transcend a try.
