The Adidas Boston returns to Fleet Feet Albany & Malta in version 11, which adds stack height to create a responsive, everyday trainer. The combination of Lightstrike Pro, Lightstrike EVA, carbon Energy Rods, and an aggressive toe-spring makes for a responsive shoe that’s just right for achieving a quick turnover. The Energy Rods are Adidas’ take on the increasingly ubiquitous use of plates in performance running shoes. Adidas, however, has opted for carbon rods that they argue flex more naturally with the foot, providing a more propulsive feel. For those runners who have been using version 10, the midsole has not changed. The upper, however, is now very breathable and does better at locking in the foot. This is a fun shoe for faster running and Adidas cautions that you really do need to break it in for 20 miles before you will feel the softness of Lightstrike. Remember, if you are a fan of the Boston before Lightstrike, be sure to also try the Adizero SL, which has a lower stack height and a firmer feel that might just take you back to the days of the Boston Boost.
