Extremely lightweight and great lateral support. Generally you don't find much lateral support in a running shoe. I do more than just RUN in the Mach 4 and this shoe handles business for me. Bought a second pair to keep one pair clean enough for certain situations. Awesome cushion and solid lightweight material that hugs your feet while you work.
Lightweight daily trainer
Ran in Rincon and loved it except that its midsole kind of gave in after 100+ miles. Mach 4 is also lightweight but the midsole is supposed to last longer and the outsole seems more durable than Rincon. Not only is it lightweight but provides great cushion and it is also responsive (energy return). Enjoying running in Mach 4. Of note is that I had to go down 1/2 in size. Usually wear men's size 10 but with this Hoka, I went with 9.5. I initially purchased size 10 but didn't feel comfortable as described by many YouTube reviewers. So I had it returned. Few months later, I was able to try 9.5 size shoes at a store and decided to give it another try at the half size smaller pair. So I went online (Fleet Feet) and purchased it. So glad that I gave it another try as I am really enjoying running in the Mach 4.
Hoka Mach 4 review
I love these shoes. For nearly a year, I have been buying numerous pairs of shoes from different manufacturers, searching for a perfect match. In fact, I've purchased seven different pairs. I needed a shoe with a spacious toe box, comfortable upper, and substantial cushion without feeling sloppy. The Hoka Mach 4s ticked all the boxes. I find that my feet and legs do not feel as tired as with other shoes, and I can more comfortably run longer distances. The only negative I have found is that the outsole and midsole are basically the same thing. This allows a great deal of cushion for the foot. However, the outsole wears down very quickly. I have run only about eighty miles, and the outsole appears that I have run hundreds. This premature wearing only makes it so that I will need to order another pair relatively soon--I love these shoes this much!
Great Everyday Training Shoe
Love the feel and comfort of this shoe. Great for interval work as well as long runs. My new go-to shoe for everyday workouts.
WOW ! on this HOO Mach 4's
lightweight, supportive and stable and no more plantar fasciitis !
I''ve enjoyed every mile in the Mach 4! Great daily trainer with enough cushion for the longer runs. I wish Hoka sized their shoes better. I'm a Mens 10 in all other brands but with Hoka the 10 feels just slightly too big and the 9.5 is too small. Love the brand and have no desire to run in anything else.
I would have to say these are the best Hoka’s I’ve purchased. I have a few different pairs and these have by far been the most comfortable. These are very cushiony and light.
I have been running for 2 years now at least 4 days a week. I weighed 295 lbs and started walking and modified my diet to eat no more than 50 carbs a meal. My first shoes that I started walking in and running were Gaviotas. They allowed me to walk pain free. I was so embarrassed of my weight and was apprehensive of going into the fleet feet store. The sales person was so nice and did not judge me and recommend gaviotas. The gaviotas changed my life. After 6 months I started running only a minute in length on the tread mill. I slowly increased my time every couple weeks. I purchased a Garmin watch as I was unsure how to pace myself running off the treadmill. Within a year I lost 100 lbs I now weigh 195 lbs. I now run 5ks , 10ks, and half marathons. I own gaviotas, cliftons, arahi and now Mach 4s. The Mach 4s are a treat as I feel it is noticeably less effort and my pace is slightly better. The machs are comfortable as the gaviotas. The Mach’s feel like they spring me forward. My favorite run is my long run on Saturdays in my Mach 4s (feels like heaven). I really like the Mach 4s.
Overall good shoe
Mach 4's fit true to size(length) for me.... size 13... have a narrow foot but had no problem with width of this shoe. ... toe box seems a little higher than some other running shoes, which worked well for my orthotics that I use with the sock liner taken out. They feel soft, but aren't all Hoka's "cushy". The Mach's did not feel as soft as the Clifton's I have...... and much lighter and faster...... what I wanted for faster running on the track. Only drawback to these shoes in my opinion is durability. The outsole is really just a glorified midsole material that I doubt will wear well. I plan on using these shoes only on the track, as road abrasion would likely wear them out prematurely. Otherwise, really like them.
They fit perfectly and I absolutely love running in them.
