Great walking shoe
I was skeptical about the zero gravity, but Altra shoes were recommended to me by two physical therapists and also a podiatrist. So far they’ve been great (with my orthotics for flat feet) for long walks and I think they’ve helped me with my balance issues.
AWESOME!!!!!
Excellent shoe to walk in!!!!!
Great for the gym
I bought these because I wanted a very flat, low profile shoe to wear to the gym. These work great, and I like that my toes have plenty of room.
Comfy and cute
I love these shoes. They are very light weight, just the right amount of cushioning, and allow room for the toes! I bought them in white and have worn them a couple times with casual dresses.
Perfect every day shoe
The roomy toe box & low heel drop make this shoe comfortable enough to wear all day in various settings.
Marathon Training breaking in then saving for the races
Altra Escalante 4 is my go-to shoe of the moment. I just bought a pair in the store and I wanted a second pair to alternate with. Running Dopey Challenge in January and will be using at least two pairs of shoes for the four races. While the race is sponsored by another shoe company, it is not a shoe that worked well for me. I don't like feeling like I'm wearing platforms. I wear low-profile shoes in my daily life, why wear something else that makes me feel awkward and causes me knee pain if I continue to wear? These shoes provide the cushion while still allowing to feel the ground underneath me. They are flexible and flex where I need them to flex. The thicker soled shoes rarely flex where I need them, which sometimes causes me toe cramps while running. (I have at least 8-10 pairs of Altra Escalante 4.) I'm no longer fast enough to warrant buying racing shoes, so I wear for both training and races.
Super comfy
I have neuropathy and neuromas. The Escalante does not cause any pressure or pain. Very roomy and flexible toe box. The sock like top is perfect.
Love this shoe!!
I wear a size 10 1/2 shoe, now need a wide shoe because of a bunion on my right foot, so everyday shoes are hard to find, much less a good running shoe! I have been a runner for almost 50 years and have worn a size 11 1/2 running shoe for the past 10 years. Again, limited shoes available for me. BUT! I ordered this Altra Escalante on a recent trip to the Syracuse Fleet Feet. I LOVE this shoe! Wide toe box and not a thick sole (which I hate). This shoe is THE Most comfortable running shoe I have ever had and I wear them even when I’m not running-highly recommend!
Comfortable casual sneakers!
They are perfect for what I bought them for. I bought them to wear as casual wear. If I was going to do any serious walking or running, I would need more cushion. They are comfortable to wear for church or out for dinner. They look good. I love the wide toe box. This is my third pair of Altra shoes-all three are different styles. Can’t go wrong with Altra’s good quality, fit & comfort!
