HOKA revamped its midsole foam to make it more responsive, and added 3 mm of stack height for a softer underfoot experience. This cushioned and lightweight foam has HOKA’s signature early stage Meta-Rocker that rocks your foot forward to give you smooth transitions.
Run for more miles, the Durabrasion rubber outsole extends the sole’s longevity, and HOKA redesigned the outsole for more comfort.
A breathable engineered knit upper provides for a lightweight and comfortable foot-hugging fit, while the streamlined tongue is gusseted to prevent any slippage. Plus, they added a reflective heel panel to give you more visibility in low light situations.

HOKA made the Clifton 9 faster and lighter to give you the best run possible. The HOKA Clifton 9 now has 3 mm more cushion, yet around the same weight, thanks to its responsive new foam and improved outsole design. HOKA made the heel more cushioned, added a reflective heel panel to help you stay visible and streamlined the tongue for more comfort. The new upper provides a bit more structure and breathes more and they redesigned the heel for a better lockdown fit.
The HOKA Clifton 9 is a great daily trainer for beginners and more experienced runners alike. It is comfortable and bouncy whether you are walking, doing an easy run or standing all day. It is also light enough to pick up the pace for speedwork and tempo runs, so it's a great do-it-all shoe.

Like Clifton 9 better than the 8
I like Hoka Cliftons - I've had all the Cliftons starting at 4. I'm a senior who walks a lot and I like a lot of support/cushioning. I feel the new Clifton 9 has a little more room mid-foot than the 8 - overall more comfortable. I track shoe wear and I got about 350 miles out of my 8s - I hope I get as much out of these 9s. I will probably buy a 2nd pair soon to split up the wear.

Great shoe right out of the box with the stock insole. Defiantly more firm then the Clifton 8. But a solid improvement in my opinion.
