The updated Brooks Caldera 5 focuses on delivering all-around security and comfort on technical terrain.

A redesigned mesh upper features a monoloop lacing system at the midfoot so you can home in on a secure, yet breathable, fit. The rugged TrailTack outsole delivers exceptional grip on uphill or downhill runs, and even wet surfaces.

The durable mesh upper sits on a thick midsole of BioMoGo DNA foam that’s built from biodegradable materials, which means your trail shoes are good for you and the planet. The BioMoGo DNA foam provides ample cushioning to protect you from uneven terrain.

They failed the 3rd time I tied them up

1st time I wore these shoes was on the street to break them in and get used to them. 2nd time was an actual 4-hour trail hike on single track with dusty hard pack to gravel conditions. Went to tie them up on the 3rd use and the front of the tongue (by the toe box) detached from the rest of the shoe. Occurred after 30 days of ownership. Thankfully the laces can keep the tongue in place, and I can still wear them as they are a decent trail shoe for grip and comfort.

Caldera 5

I have purchased just about every Brooks Caldera model over the years. I run mostly in the country and trails so I need a durable shoe for the terrain. Models in the past were more breathable but this model will prove to hold up longer due to the stiffer construction. Not as comfortable out of the box as in the past but that is due to the stiffer construction. Worked well for the last half marathon. I really appreciate the Fresno staff at Fleet Feet. Still a fan.
