I'm a new runner, I can compare these shoes to what I currently use, Asics Gel Kayano 27, Asics Nimbus 23, and Brooks Ghost 13. Shoes size runs long, I normally use a 9 but ordered a 9.5 just to be safe. As it turns out, I have about a thumbwidth space between my longest toe and the shoe. Turns out, this is a great fit for me and keeps my toes free to move about. The shoes hugs my forefoot pretty well. Heel counter is soft yet, my heel is secure comfortably. I also use the runners knot to tie these on, so maybe that help. Cushioning is where the biggest surprise for me. From how it looks, I expected squish and plushness like the Asics Nimbus 23. It's not...and I mean that in a good way. The cushion, for me, feels a lot more responsive than the Ghost 13, yet, it seems that the shoe doesn't bottom out especially at the heel when I strike that portion of my foot from time to time. As for the decoupling of the sole, not sure I notice anything different compared to the rest of my shoes. Surpisingly, the outsole has very good traction even on wet roads. The reviews I've read mentioned the pool noodle material may be lose traction, but my experience, the outsole has good grip even in wet surfaces. The upper is indeed see-through and I got it a tad wet, hence, soaked my socks easily. Bottom line, i'd buy a second pair of these shoes if the price were a bit less than what I had paid for. I enjoy training in these and started to use them on my "hard" training days since the midsole is, to me, responsive.
