- Upper: The soft and supportive recycled stretch knit upper gives the Kayano a sleek profile and superior breathability and comfort. Our testers loved how the new upper because of its comfort and ability to fit a variety of footshapes in our ASICS GEL-KAYANO 29 review.
- Midsole: Providing support and stability for people who overpronate or have flexible arches, the GEL-KAYANO® 29 features a LITETRUSS™ placed on the midsole’s inside angle that is designed to help keep your foot from rolling too far inward during your stride. The updated shoe also features a low-profile external heel counter that cradles your foot to keep it secure and provide rearfoot support.
- Outsole: This newest version still features ASICS’ signature GEL technology that absorbs impact and feels amazing underfoot.

What’s New
The ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 29 has an updated midsole with FF BLAST™ PLUS foam that provides a more energized rebound, yet keeps the shoe lightweight. ASICS added 2 mm of cushioning to the stack height of the shoe to provide more cushioning and decreased the heel-to-toe drop to 10 mm for both men’s and women’s versions to provide a smoother and more stable ride. Finally, they modernized the upper with an engineered knit to improve the shoe’s breathability and comfort.

At least 50% of the ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 29 main upper material is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. I like my 29's. I wish the 4E width was a little wider but it's working. Too I wish shoe companies would have more colors in wide widths. Wearing only black or gray gets boring.

Kayanos cured my hip problems.
I used to routinely run about 35 miles per week and I wore neutral cushioned running shoes. I would wear the softest ones I could find. Unfortunately I developed hip problems and now exclusively use an elliptical trainer for exercise. The neutral cushioned shoes which I loved for running hurt my hips on the elliptical. I changed to stability shoes and the Kayanos are by far the best. Besides stability they also provide cushioning a nice combination. My hip problems are gone and I'm happily working out again. Kayanos are the best and I highly recommend them.
