From up-tempo runs to putting in long miles, the sleek Altra Rivera 3 can handle it all.

Altra used their bouncy and responsive Altra EGO™ midsole and increased the stack height of the shoe by adding more cushioning to keep you comfortable during your run. They also retooled the Innerflex grooves to give you smoother transitions from heel to toe.

The Rivera 3 has all of Altra’s signature characteristics—there is a wider toe box to let your toes splay and a zero heel-to-toe drop to promote natural, balanced running. The Rivera 3 uses Altra’s slim FootShape™ Fit that gives it a sleeker appearance and tighter fit than other Altra shoes.

Designers updated the molded heel collar to better hold your Achilles and provide a better lockdown and fit, while the stretchy upper is breathable and comfortable.

Great for gym not so much the road.

I got these for road running but they were not the best at that for me. I love them for the gym. However I switched to a more cushioned shoe for my longer road runs.

Good idea bad construction worse price

These shoes feel great under the foot but the rest of the construction is FAR below the price point. I ordered and returned a pair with a defective toe that folded in when running. Turns out the new pair has the same problem: it’s just an egregious design flaw in the shoe. I’ve heard from others that the upper wears out very quickly too. A disappointment since I had such high expectations for Altra. I’d recommend avoiding this shoe!

Bought this a little bit ago and absolutely love them from treadmill work and long runs to speed work these shoes are insanely versatile and comfy. Since starting my runs in these I haven't had a problem with pain or anything. Definitely will be back to pick up another color!
