Altra made the max-cushioned Paradigm 4.5 with an Altra EGO midsole for soft landings and a knit upper for all-over comfort.

What makes the Paradigm stand out, though, is the shoe’s subtle guidance. Designers added Stabilipods to enhance your foot’s three natural stability zones to prevent excess foot collapse and pronation, and they added a GuideRail for medial guidance when you need it.

Altra Paradigm 4.5's and Fleet Feet service in general.

I recently ordered a pair of size 13 Altra Paradigm 4.5's and, at first, thought I enjoyed this larger size (I typically wear 12.5, but they can be a bit snug, depending on the brand). But, after running in them multiple times, I realized I needed to go down a size and ordered a pair of 12.5. I knew I'd need to run in both, back to back days, to really know for sure which size served me best (I'm a scientist and over-thinker, if that's not redundant ((is it?)), so I have a hard time making decisions without a lot of experimentation and data). I was nervous about having the shoes too long and/or damaging them, but, thanks to Fleet Feet, I was allowed to try both shoes multiple times and return them via a simple and expedient process. My 12.5 Paradigms fit perfect, and I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Altras, esp. Paradigms, to any runners with knees issues. They are also made for over-pronaters, so they not only cushion the body from impact, but help to train the feet and give them natural space and balance. Long story short, if you over-pronate and/or have any anatomical issues, injuries, etc. that call for lessening of impact, use Paradigms! And if you want expedient service with guaranteed quality and refundability, use Fleet Feet!

Making the switch to Altra was one of the best decisions of my running life! I love the Paradigm's for the high mileage training I do on the dirt roads of Western Kansas. They hold up well and when I need to make a switch to Urban pavement or concrete they work just as well. Thank you Fleet Feet for making it easier for me to keep running!
