ASICS Sonicblast & Megablast Review: Fresh Faces in the BLAST Family
ASICS has introduced two new members of the BLAST family — the Sonicblast and the Megablast. So how exactly do these two new models fit into the lineup?
The Megablast is ASICS' high stack, ultra lightweight trainer designed for runners chasing big mileage with minimal fatigue.
Outfitter's Tip: this is a UNISEX-sized shoe. Men's sizes are shown — women should order 1.5 sizes below their standard running shoe size. For example: for a women's size 9.5 shoe, order a size 8.
The ASICS Megablast brings the bounce to your runs.
Built for runners who want maximum energy return without limits on pace or distance, this shoe brings together ASICS' bounciest FF TURBOยฒ cushioning with a design that adapts to however you want to run. Whether you're building your base with easy miles or testing your speed on interval day, the Megablast proves that having fun and performing well go hand in hand.

500 miles on the last pair, did everything from easy to long to 400's in them. Light, bouncy, comfortable. New pair now and loving them all over again. Maybe a tad small, but I would not mess with it unless you are already pushing it on a size. Worth the $.
The Megablast can do everything from recovery runs to speed work. Exceptional fit and a plush run!
Megablast shoes are my new go-to training shoes for half marathons. Previously, I was using Nova blast, which are still good shoes; however, the Megablast is lighter and more cushioned. Also feels like it propels you forward like plated shoes.
I am a recreational runner. Average 12 miles a week. Historically I have had pain in the arches of both feet. Having said that, my first pair I was unsure when I tried them on but now I love them. They feel like on my feet and so far no foot pain. Which is why I have bought this second pair. I have multiple running shoes and they all feel so heavy in comparison now.
Best running shoe out there.
Bought this shoe on line based on the amount of positive reviews around it's performance. It absolutely lives up to hype. It's incredibly comfortable. Has excellent spring or bounce. I've worn it on long runs and on track days and it feels great during each. I have it in rotation with my Addidas Adi Pro 4 and Brooks Glycerin Max. Overall fit for my 9.5 size is better with the Asics. Good room in the toe box for my slightly wider foot.
Iโm getting up in years and enjoy running but I have been having more pain. My podiatrist said I needed more cushion. I have run 4 times in these shoes and they help immensely with the pain in my foot. Runrepeat.com was recommended by my son in selecting the shoes I wanted to try. This helped a lot in evaluating the many options. These appear to be worth the extra money and I donโt need to use my expensive inserts but time will tell how they hold up.
Easily the best daily runner Iโve ever ran in. Very fast, light weight, and fits me perfectly (size 11 M). A lot of people complain about the upper and how it affects their big toe, but I havenโt had any problems. This is for sure my favorite shoe.
I have about 30 miles on these shoes, and I have to say this shoe has almost ruined all other shoes for me to run in. This shoe does slow paces well, and then rewards you when you pick up the pace. It's not really a race day shoe but I'm contemplating running in these for a 1/2 Marathon. This shoe is definitely a buy.
