Brooks Running Shoe Reviews

Fleet Feet runners test and review Brooks running shoes so you can make an informed decision about your purchase. Here are our Brooks shoe reviews:

  • Brooks Glycerin 18 review. The softest shoe in the Brooks lineup gets an update. Brooks reconfigured the midsole to get more cushy DNA Loft foam underfoot, which Fleet Feet testers appreciated.
  • Brooks Ghost 12 review. Classic and reliable, the Brooks Ghost sets the standard for all other running shoes. Testers say the newest version continues the reliable ride and comfortable fit of the previous versions, but a sleek new look makes it stand out.
  • Brooks Launch 6 review. The Brooks Launch is a straightforward, dependable training shoe at an affordable price. Test runners love the simple fit and snappy ride, and Brooks loves to dress it up in shamrocks, patterns or the American flag for holidays.
  • Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 review. Uncomplicated, consistent, iconic. The Adrenaline GTS 20 won’t disappoint. Fleet Feet testers praised the pared-down upper and the straightforward lacing, but it's the unobtrusive GuideRails stability system that makes the Adrenaline tick.

About Brooks Running Shoes

Brooks didn't always make running shoes.

The Seattle-based company started out making ballet slippers before turning to baseball, football and softball cleats. But when running took off in the 1970s, so did Brooks.

What started with the Villanova and Vantage in the '70s turned into names like Beast and Adrenaline GTS in the 1990s. Then, in 2001, Brooks made the call to focus on their strength: running.

Today, Brooks makes running gear—and only running gear. The Brooks Adrenaline is still one of the most popular running shoes on the market, but shoes like the Brooks Ghost and Brooks Glycerin have joined the ranks.

With its sole focus on designing the best running shoes and apparel, Brooks pores over the details to make sure its products stack up. Lace up a pair of Brooks running shoes, and you'll be running happy in no time.

Brooks Running Shoe Technology

Brooks packs years of research and breakthrough technology into its running shoes, apparel and gear. Here's a look at some of their top technology:

  • 3D Fit Print. The revolutionary process uses screen-print technology to build engineered structure for the upper of a shoe. 3D Fit Print maintains the shoe's structure but gives it better flexibility and a lighter weight.
  • Guide Rails. Brooks' Guide Rails are a breakthrough stability technology that are built right into the midsole of the shoes instead of using traditional posts like other stability shoes. Guide Rails promote your body's preferred running motion, which alleviates the pressure of trying to force it into a set pattern. Guide Rails are used in the popular Adrenaline GTS 20.
  • Segmented Crash Pad. The Crash Pad is a midsole design that uses independent, but fully integrated, shock absorbers to smooth out your ride. The segments work together to customize your landing when your foot hits the ground, making for a seamless heel-to-toe transition.
  • DNA midsole foam. DNA foam adapts to the force you apply to it, so you get cushioning tailored for how you run. The Brooks Ghost 12 uses DNA Loft foam for softer landings.
  • Ballistic Rock Shield. A strong, plastic sheath sandwiched between the outsole and midsole protects your foot from sharp objects on the trail, like rocks and roots. It's used in trail running shoes, such as the Brooks Cascadia 14
