Diadora’s Blushield Cushioning Helps You Fly

The sole of the Diadora Volo 2.

Diadora’s signature cushioning system, Blushield, continues to shine in the Volo 2. Blushield midsole foam soaks up impact like a sponge, protecting your joints from pounding during landings. The Blushield foam sits on top of a morpho base, mimicking the shape of your foot to provide smooth transitions and supportive stability.

Reviewers appreciated the plush feel.

“I wore them for a 5 mile recovery run and they were just what I needed. They’re soft enough for my feet to sink into them, but I didn’t feel like I had to dig myself out of them either. I liked how they felt so plush and cushioned all over but not too heavy or clunky,” Caroline says.

Some reviewers noticed that the shoe feels noticeably firmer than other Diadora shoes.

“The Volo has a soft step-in feel, but on the run the ride feels much more firm. They felt smooth and stable on a 5-mile recovery day,” Kate says.

Diadora shaved almost a full ounce of weight off the latest version of the Volo, making for a more enjoyable ride.

The outsole features a Duratech 5000 rubber in the heel, which frequently experiences the most wear and tear. A softer blown rubber is used in the forefoot to increase flexibility, making transitions feel silky smooth.

“The shoe rolls along quite well once you’re used to it. Plus, it feels pretty light given its size and has excellent traction,” Nate says.

Diadora Mythos Blushield Volo 2 Offers Lockdown Fit

The latest version of the Diadora Volo features a redesigned air mesh nylon upper and a more secure heel counter, locking down the fit.

The Diadora Mythos Blushield Volo 2 upper uses a more tightly woven mesh than the previous version that holds its shape better, creating a more comfortable fit. An updated heel collar provides more support around the ankle area, reducing slippage.

Extra padding in the heel and tongue add more softness to an already plush shoe while long, tubular laces make for a premium feel.

“Everything about these shoes just screams plush and cushy. The heel collar is super padded, as well as the tongue,” Caroline says.

It should be noted that the Diadora Volo 2 runs long, so our reviewers received a half size down from what they normally wear.

“The fit seems generous. I have plenty of length and height in the toe box. The cushioned tongue and padded heel collar really dial up the comfort, and I also like the touch of reflectivity on the toe and heel,” Kate says.

The Diadora Mythos Blushield Volo 2 remains a high-cushioned neutral trainer capable of handling longer miles and perfect for recovery days. The shoe is both soft and supportive, thanks to Blushield cushioning and a morpho base.

The three major updates to the shoe are its redesigned upper, more secure heel collar and lighter weight. The Volo 2 is smoother, more breathable and offers a more locked down fit than the previous version. Overall, reviewers appreciated the updates.

“For a classic look, higher stack height, and a more supportive ride, look no further than the Volo 2,” Nate says.
