ASICS’ go-to neutral trainer is back this season with softer cushioning, an eco-friendly design and fresh new colors, including the ASICS x Fleet Feet exclusive colorway. Named after the fluffy white cumulus cloud, the shoe cradles your foot while providing lightweight, cloud-like support and comfort.
Fleet Feet reviewers tested the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 during training runs, recovery days and neighborhood walks. Here’s what they thought about ASICS’ latest update.

Updated Cushioning Softens ASICS Gel Cumulus 24
The latest version of the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 is softer than ever before, thanks to an infusion of ASICS’ FF Blast cushioning in the midsole. FF Blast foam is a high-cushion, low-density foam used to create soft landings and energetic toe-offs. The result is a smooth, easy ride for miles on end.
“The shoe is soft and cushy, but it still shows some energy and life, especially when you pick up the pace,” Nate says.
Reviewers noticed a big difference between the Cumulus 23 and the Cumulus 24.
“It’s definitely much softer and more flexible than the previous iterations of the Cumulus. It has more than enough cushion to comfortably cruise through long runs. My feet felt comfortable and supported throughout the entirety of my run,” Caroline says.
In addition to a new midsole foam, the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 features new ASICS LITE outsole rubber, making the outsole lighter and stronger than previous versions.
“It has plenty of blown rubber on the bottom to offer excellent traction and to make it a durable shoe that you can count on day after day,” Kate says.
“I like the minimal outsole that saves weight while providing enough grip and traction,” Nate says.
ASICS’ signature GEL technology sits in the rearfoot and forefoot to absorb shock during landings.
Overall, reviewers appreciated the soft, responsive ride of the Gel Cumulus 24.

Eco-Friendly Upper Improves Breathability
ASICS stays true to their sustainability initiative with the Gel Cumulus 24, featuring an upper made with recycled materials to reduce carbon emissions and waste.
The engineered mesh upper wraps comfortably around your foot, while an updated heel counter creates a lockdown fit.
“The step-in feel of the Cumulus is soft and cozy. The cushion has a nice bit of give when I step into the shoe, and the heel collar is extra thick. It gives my heel and ankle a nice hug the moment that I put the shoe on,” Kate says.
Reviewers appreciated the soft, smooth materials.
“Plush is the word that really comes to mind here. The soft padded tongue and heel collar hug your feet and ankle. The knit upper feels luxurious, keeping my foot in place while giving it room to spread,” Nate says.
ASICS uses their signature 3D Space Construction technology, providing just the right amount of compression and support throughout the upper. The compression zones are gender specific to address the biological differences between men’s and women’s feet.
Reflective accents on the heel add visibility so you can feel safer during dark runs.

The ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 remains true to form as a lightweight, moderately cushioned neutral running shoe with a few key updates. First, the shoe features softer cushioning than ever before thanks to ASICS’ signature FF Blast midsole foam.
“These shoes are definitely on the soft and flexible end of the spectrum. They feel comfortable and cushioned, but also not too heavy or thick,” Alex says.
The latest version of the Gel Cumulus also features a new outsole rubber called ASICS LITE, creating a lighter and more durable outsole. Despite this, the latest version of the Gel Cumulus is slightly heavier than the previous version, but our reviewers didn’t notice a difference.
A newly designed engineered mesh upper made from recycled materials tops off the Gel Cumulus 24.
Fleet Feet reviewers appreciated the updates and think you will too.
“If you’re a fan of the ASICS Cumulus, I think you'll be happy with this update. ASICS has made some solid improvements to the materials without changing the basic shape and function that make the Cumulus a long time favorite,” Kate says.
The ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 is a great choice for runners seeking a cushioned, comfortable shoe for daily training, long runs and even uptempo paces.
“I really enjoyed my run in these shoes. The Cumulus 24 is a shoe that can work well for most types of runners. It’s moderately cushioned, with enough flexibility to move fluidly through each stride. It’s not too soft, so it could work well for faster paces,” Caroline says.
The Cumulus 24 strikes a perfect balance between soft and responsive while remaining generously cushioned without being bulky.
“These shoes are not too heavy, not too light; not too thick, not too thin; not too flashy, not too boring,” Alex says.
