Gear Review: rabbit Spring 2021 Apparel
Designing the best running clothes comes easy for California-based rabbit.
By sourcing the finest fabrics and working with California designers, the rabbit team churns out running apparel that lets you focus on your run.
Fleet Feet runners tested out several pieces from rabbit’s spring 2021 collection to see how they perform as winter begins to thaw. Here’s what you need to know about these new pieces from rabbit.
rabbit EZ Tank
There’s no question about how Fleet Feet reviewers feel about the EZ Tank. One runner took it for one workout and then started cleaning out her dresser to make more room.
“After I wore this top for an initial run, I (honestly) went into my running clothes drawer and started pulling out other tank tops and adding them to a give-away bin,” she says.
She then wore the tank for three consecutive runs. “I want three more of these tops, or at least one in every color. Hands down, this is my favorite running tank of all time.”
What makes the EZ Tank so good is its polyester-spandex blend fabric. The fabric is lightweight and soft against your skin, so it not only mops up sweat quickly, but also dries out fast to keep you comfortable. Plus, the touch of spandex gives it an athletic fit that stays put.
The women’s version features a racerback style, while the men’s EZ Tank has a standard cut.
rabbit 4” Hopper Shorts
With a not-too-long, not-too-short length, rabbit designed the women’s 4” Hopper Shorts for the lightest feel.
Fleet Feet runners say the 4” inseam hits the middle ground between the shortest split shorts and full-coverage options, giving you an easy stride without showing too much leg.
The highlight for multiple testers is the waistband. Designers built a soft, wide waistband that holds tight even without a drawstring. Reviewers say the waistband sits flat against their bodies and keeps the shorts secure even on harder efforts.
One reviewer who typically prefers a slightly longer cut says she didn’t have to think twice about the Hopper.
“These are probably the only shorts of this length I'd run in,” she says. “They're so comfortable and smooth to the touch. I love the fit, too. It's athletic, so not too bulky and not too tight. The wide waistband fits really well and the shorts don't ride up even during faster workouts.”
Designed with a lightweight mesh liner for increased comfort, the 4” Hopper Shorts are lightweight and hassle-free to keep you focused on your run.
rabbit EZ Tee
Cut from the same buttery fabric (94 percent polyester, 6 percent spandex) as the EZ Tank, the rabbit EZ Tee delivers the same streamlined performance with a bit more coverage.
The short-sleeve T-shirt is super soft against your skin, and it gives you an athletic fit that’s not boxy or baggy. One reviewer says it fits her perfectly for running miles and running everyday errands.
“It feels amazing against my skin, and I love the way it's cut,” she says. “It’s chafe-free, and I don’t have to think about it at all when I run. I would also just wear this as a regular shirt. I’m truly in love with the EZ Tee. It's beautifully simple: Everything you need and nothing you don't.”
The EZ Tee comes in both men’s and women’s styles—the women’s has shorter sleeves and a wider neckline. If you prefer a looser fit, the men’s version fits more like a traditional T-shirt.
rabbit Quadtastic 5” Shorts
Show off some thigh in the men’s rabbit Quadtastic 5” Shorts.
The Quadtastic boasts a speedy 5” inseam that hits above the knee. The shorter cut keeps excess fabric out of your way to give you a full range of motion.
The outer short uses rabbit’s polyester-spandex blend fabric that wicks sweat and keep you dry, while the soft inner liner uses a nylon-spandex blend.
The liner is unique. While it’s soft, breathable and comfortable, rabbit used an unexpected material to make it: recycled coffee grounds. The coffee grounds, rabbit says, make the fabric more sustainable but also help cool your body by 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
A large back pocket in the waistband can store a phone, and a small pocket in the liner gives you a secure place to store your house or car key.
“The pocket in the back of the waistband held my phone and kept it from bouncing around too much, especially when I cinched the drawstring,” he says.
