Gear Review: On Fall Apparel

A man and woman walk down the street wearing On's latest Fall apparel.

Just because it’s scorching hot outside doesn't mean we can’t look ahead to what autumn will bring. Cooler temperatures, pumpkin lattes and On’s new Fall apparel line.

The latest apparel from On includes sweat-wicking shorts, breathable tees and tanks and On’s first-ever performance sports bras.

Fleet Feet Reviewers tested On’s fall apparel line during runs, walks and gym sessions to see how each item fits, feels and performs. Here’s what you need to know about the latest On apparel.

On Performance Bra

The On Performance Bra is the highlight of their fall apparel collection. On has never made sports bras before, yet the On Performance Bra knocks it out of the park.

The On Performance Bra is made with technical, sweat-wicking fabric to keep you dry and comfy throughout your run. A full mesh panel in the back adds breathability and keeps you cool. Reviewers appreciated the smooth, comfortable materials.

“The material is buttery smooth and feels really nice against my skin. It offers the perfect amount of compression while still giving me enough room to breathe. The best part of this bra was how easy it was to take off, even while it was wet from a super sweaty run,” Caroline says.

No wires, clasps or seams means no irritation and less hassle to get on and off, while a high neckline provides extra support. The pads are smooth, lightweight and don’t move around in the washing machine.

“I’m really into this bra! It uses a comfortable and functional combination of compression and encapsulation to minimize movement on the run. The fabric is soft and smooth, which feels great against my skin,” Kate says.

Women’s Movement Tank

Move freely in the On Movement Tank.

The On Movement Tank is made with stretchy, sweat-wicking material to keep you cool and comfy during your run. Plus, a flattering slim cut and high neckline help you look sleek and stylish no matter how sweaty you are.

“This tank top fared well during a hot gym session. I like how the fabric doesn’t show sweat, and the material feels lightweight and breathable,” Caroline says.

“The Movement Tank is really comfortable on the run. It wicks sweat well and dries quickly. I didn’t have any issues with chafing or rubbing,” Kate says.

Thanks to its flattering cut and stylish design, there are plenty of opportunities to wear the On Movement Tank even when you’re not running.

“This is a piece that I would wear all day as a regular shirt before wearing it on a run, hike, or any kind of exercise class,” Kate says.

5" Running Shorts

A man and woman run together wearing On's latest apparel.

The On 5" Running Shorts are made with ultralight, sweat-wicking fabric for a “barely there” feel. A smooth, stretchy waistband features a handy back pocket with a key loop, and some reviewers were even able to fit their phone in it. Front drawstrings help adjust the fit.

“The materials are light, breathable and dry quickly. The smooth waistband sits snugly at my hips, offering the option to cinch up for a tighter fit,” Caroline says.

While our reviewers appreciated the comfortable materials, some noticed the built-in liner didn’t offer the same level of comfort.

“The outer short has a roomy fit. The liner, however, is made much smaller. It didn’t stay in place as well as I would have liked,” Kate says.

Overall, the On Running Shorts are lightweight, breathable and efficient at wicking away sweat on the run.

“These shorts fit and felt great. I love the large back pocket, especially for someone who likes to bring their phone along to take photos. I was also able to store doggy bags, a credit card and house keys,” Nate says.

Men’s Active-T

A man and two women sit together after a run.

Whether you’re cruising through a run or binging Netflix on the couch, the Active-T is there to offer fashion and function.

The On Active-T is made with a blend of cotton, modal and elastane. While it’s not as breathable or sweat-wicking as the other items we reviewed, it can hold its own in moderate temperatures.

“The shirt fit nicely while I was running in it and was reasonably easy to strip off at the end of the run once I had soaked it with sweat. It’s very soft and comfortable, but it showed sweat more than my other technical t-shirts,” Alex says.

Nate, who lives in the temperate Pacific Northwest, didn’t have any problems with sweat in the Active-T.

“It fit and felt great on a run, despite increasing temperatures. It certainly wicked away sweat and the best thing I can say is that I didn’t notice it while running,” he says.

Despite disagreements about the sweat-wicking capabilities of the On Active-T, reviewers enjoyed the fit and materials.

“It’s a pleasing and soft technical T-shirt, and I like the stripped down aesthetics. Plus, it fits nicely. It’s loose without being too baggy,” Alex says.
