The number of people who ran the 2019 Chicago Marathon could fill the Chicago Bulls' basketball arena—twice.
More than 45,000 runners finished the race on October 13. Their times ranged from a new world record to more than nine hours. But no matter the time, crossing the finish line is a major accomplishment.
Kenyan Brigid Kosgei smashed the previous women's world marathon record, logging the 26.2 miles in a blazing 2:14:04, while fellow Kenyan Lawrence Cherono won the men's race in 2:05:45.
From start to finish, the 2019 Chicago Marathon was a day to remember. Here's what the race looked like in photos.
